Who's Playing Who?

Megatips returns again, and we’ve got a stack of fantastic matches to get through. The AFL season kicks off, while the EPL has a week off for the International window. This week we’re taking a closer look at the Bulldogs v Roosters, Geelong v St Kilda and Brumbies v Waratahs.  Some mixed results (below) last week, with a tie for 1st at the top of each code… Will someone finally step up and take top spot for their own in anything? NRL

Canterbury Bulldogs vs Sydney Roosters

This is an interesting encounter early on in the season. The Dogs are 2-0 after wins over Wests Tigers and South Sydney, while the Roosters went down in a shock loss to a Manly side down on personnel at home last week. With Todd Carney back in the fold, Anasta moves back to the 2nd Row, forcing a bit of movement in the pack. David Stagg returns for the Bulldogs, which will ease the workload on the rest of the forwards (although they weren’t too shabby without him). Split reaction from the WPW team, so this one could go either way.

Geelong vs St Kilda

A superb opening round clash. The ’09 Grand Final replay should be a great for the code, looking to move beyond the dramas of the off season. This one will all revolve around how St Kilda play- will they be determined to put the scandal behind them and play the house down, or will they not turn up (who doesn’t love that turn of phrase?)? How will the Cats respond in the post-Bomber/Ablett era? One new inclusion for both sides- rookie Cameron Guthrie is on the bench for the Cats, while Ryan Gamble makes his debut for the Saints against his old club. Tips are split 3-2 in favour of St Kilda.

Brumbies vs Waratahs

Let’s not beat around the bush- the ‘tahs were rubbish last week. I don’t think anyone tipped against them, or was game enough to put money on the Cheetahs (they must have been paying delicious odds at 13+!) The Brumbies had the week off, so it is yet to be seen whether this will help or hinder their game. Most of us are backing the Waratahs away, but based on current form, this could be ugly. In more positive news, Brumby Jack is making his return to the sidelines this week after sustaining an injury a few rounds ago. There has been talk that Tah Man is making the trip up to the nation’s capital. This match up could be more exciting than the actual game!
