Who's Playing Who?

Welcome to Megatips again, time for the Who’s Playing Who? experts to give you their tips and previews for the weekend ahead. Once again all of the codes are in play, so a massive weekend ahead. As you would have heard on the Who’s Playing Who? Podcast this week, the Match of the Round previews are Arsenal vs Liverpool, Parramatta Eels vs Canterbury Bulldogs, Sydney vs Geelong and Reds vs Bulls. But first, results!

Match of the Round Previews

 

EPL

Arsenal vs Liverpool

A massive game in the context of this year’s Premiership. For Arsenal, they pretty much can’t afford to drop any points for the rest of the year, being 7 points adrift of Manchester United with a game in hand. Liverpool are attempting to fend off the challenge of Mersyside rivals Everton for that last European spot, but will have to do without inspirational captain Steven Gerrard for the remainder of the year. Both sides are coming off big wins last week, but most of our experts seem to think Arsenal are the better bet.

 

NRL

Parramatta Eels vs Canterbury Bulldogs

This traditional clash has been dampened a bit by the form of the Eels in recent weeks, but if this year has shown us anything, it is that sides really bite back big time after big losses. The Eels will really need to do this against a Bulldogs side which, although were soundly beaten by the Dragons last week, are one of the competition heavyweights at the moment. The Eels finals chances may not lay on the line, but if they want to be the challengers that most people tipped them to be, they need to start clicking soon. This big clash is an Eels home game moved the Dog’s home ground at ANZ Stadium, and with the Easter Show next door expect a massive crowd. The Hayne Plane ran riot in this clash last year, and our experts are spit on this one, so can he do it again?

 

AFL

Sydney vs Geelong

A big clash at the SCG between two undefeated sides so far in this year’s AFL Premiership. The Swans have been a bit hot and cold so far this year, but are finding ways to get themselves over the line which is always a good thing. Geelong on the other hand have been dominant and professional in their three victories so far, seemingly not missing Gary Ablett or ‘Bomber’ Thompson at all. Their demolition of Port last week shows the kind of skill they still have at their disposal, but the Swans at the SCG is a different predicament all together. Again our experts are split somewhat, but mostly in favour of the home side, although interestingly The Phantom has chosen to go with Geelong, but not after choosing a draw.

 

Super Rugby

Reds vs Bulls

Last year’s champions the Bulls are looking to halt their slide down the ladder after being put away easily by the Crusaders last week in Timaru. They are currently third in their conference, and well out of contention on the overall ladder, so this game presents a last chance for them to make a play at the semis. The Reds are flying high however, returning from their South African tour unbeaten, and topping the Australian conference, and the overall ladder. This is a test of whether they are the real deal this year, and will be a mouth watering clash. Matt and Adrian tipping the home side to stay at the top, but one of our experts, most importantly our Super Rugby expert David Shipton, disagrees.
