EPL Gameweek 35/NRL Round 8/AFL Round 6/Super Rugby Round 11 Megatips

Here we go again- more Megatips than you can poke a stick at! Things are starting to get interesting in the EPL, with only weeks remaining before the end of the season, while in our other three competitions, we’re only just getting into the thick of things. Our Matches of the Round this week are: Arsenal v Man Utd, Cowboys v Sea Eagles, Sydney v Carlton and Stormers v Sharks.

Standings

Match of the Round Previews

EPL

Arsenal v Manchester United

Two of the biggest clubs in the EPL go head to head in this one. For Arsenal, their hopes at winning silverware have been dashed for another year, giving up plenty of chances throughout. While they’ll be in the mix in Europe again next year, it must be disappointing for Gunners fans around the world given the talent they posses. Manchester United on the other hand are in the box seat to win yet another Premier League title, and have one foot in the final of the Champion’s League, with the return leg at Old Trafford in the next week as well. Will Arsenal spoil the party? Or will it be another victory to the Red Devils? Everyone is picking a Man U victory, except for Adrian, who believes we’ll see a draw.

NRL

North Queensland Cowboys v Manly Warringah Sea Eagles

Two of the form sides early on in the competition line up against each other on Saturday night. Both teams have 5 wins and 2 loses, and will be looking to set themselves up for the Rep period, where they will potentially lose a few players each. While Brett Stewart was named (again), he will miss out, but should be right for their next game at home against the Raiders. For the Cowboys, they’ve named the same 17 that beat Cronulla. It seems when you’re winning, the squad is much more settled. Despite their good form so far in 2011, no one is tipping the Sea Eagles! For our sake, let’s hope the Cowboys turn up and take the win here.

AFL

Sydney Swans v Carlton Blues

The Phantom says…”A rematch of last season’s epic Elimination Final, both teams enter this Friday night’s clash having only lost once this season. Sydney go into the game off the back of the bye, and will regain Tadhg Kennelly from a knee injury to replace the injured Alex Johnson in what is likely to be the only change from the loss to Geelong 2 weeks ago. The Blues are still hurting from their 5 point loss in Sydney in last season’s finals, but unfortunately history is against them taking home the 4 points this time – they are winless at the SCG since 1993, when now coach Brett Ratten was playing for the club. Whilst the probable wet weather will make it a tough and close encounter, the Swans should have enough to get over the line.”

Super Rugby

Stormers v Sharks

David Shipton says… “A big game for both sides as they are the top of the South African Conference. Hard to pick but I’ll take a gamble on the Sharks to win this one by less than 12.”

I expect Arsenal to get at least a draw on Emirates Stadium, in front of their fans. United could also settle for a draw. The Gunners will surely put on a show for their supporters.

That’s what you’d think, wouldn’t you? Adrian certainly hopes you’re on the money!
