NRL Team Lists – Round 13

We have a full round of 8 games back again this week, and with the NSW Origin team for Game Two to be named on Sunday afternoon again, there will be plenty of people trying to impress and force their way into the side. Adrian is hard at work on some new content and big name writers, so Matt has taken full reign this week. Some big names return this week as a result, so how will this affect each game? Read on to find out…..

FRIDAY:

Parramatta Eels v St. George Illawarra Dragons at Parramatta Stadium, 7:35pm

Eels: Jarryd Hayne, Luke Burt, Ryan Morgan, Jacob Loko, Jordan Atkins, Casey McGuire, Jeff Robson, Tim Mannah, Matt Keating, Fuifui Moimoi, Nathan Hindmarsh, Taniela Lasalo, Ben Smith.  Interchange: Shane Shackleton, Mitchell Allgood, Carl Webb, Justin Horo.

Ins: Jacob Loko, Carl Webb

Outs: Chris Walker (NSW Cup), Anthony Mitchell (NSW Cup)

Dragons: Darius Boyd, Peni Tagive, Mark Gasnier, Matt Cooper, Jason Nightingale, Jamie Soward, Ben Hornby (c), Dan Hunt, Dean Young, Michael Weyman, Beau Scott, Ben Creagh, Matt Prior.  Interchange (from): Jon Green, Nathan Fien, Adam Cuthbertson, Trent Merrin, Jack Bosden, Mitch Rein.

Ins: Peni Tagive, Dean Young, Jack Bosden

Outs: Brett Morris (hamstring – Round 14)

Matt Considers: Probably one of the games of the round, with two traditional rivals facing up at Parra Stadium. No major changes for the Eels, with Jacob Loko coming back in, and Carl Webb also returning. For the Dragons, big news with Dean Young returning after Origin and Brett Morris out with a hamstring injury. Peni Tagive plays his second game for the Dragons, while Jack Bosden joins an extended bench.

Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks v Brisbane Broncos at Toyota Stadium, 7:35pm

Sharks: Isaac Gordon, Matthew Wright, Ben Pomeroy, Colin Best, Stewart Mills, Wade Graham, Scott Porter, Kade Snowden, John Morris, Taulima Tautai, Jayson Bukuya, Anthony Tupou, Paul Gallen (c).  Interchange (from): Siosaia Vave, Johnny Mannah (Injury), Stuart Flanagan, Broderick Wright, Tyson Frizell.

Ins: John Mannah, Broderick Wright, Tyson Frizell

Outs: Josh Cordoba (hamstring – Round 15), Luke Douglas (medial ligament strain – Round 19)

Broncos: Josh Hoffman, Dale Copley, Jack Reed, Gerard Beale, Jharal Yow Yeh, Darren Lockyer (c), Peter Wallace, Ben Hannant, Andrew McCullough, Scott Anderson, Alex Glenn, Sam Thaiday, Corey Parker. Interchange: Kurt Baptiste, Dane Carlaw, Mitchell Dodds, David Hala.

Ins: Josh Hoffman, Darren Lockyer, Sam Thaiday, Dane Carlaw

Outs: David Gagai (Toyota Cup), Corey Norman (Toyota Cup), Ben Te’o (fractured arm – Round 18), Nick Kenny (shoulder – indefinite)

Matt Considers: It was being billed as possibly Darren Lockyer’s final game in Sydney, and will be if the Broncos don’t play and finals in Sydney. He returns with Sam Thaiday after being rested post-Origin last week. Josh Hoffman comes back in after a fractured leg, and Dance Carlaw put back in. A couple of young boys drop back the NYC, while Ben Te’o re-fractured his arm, and Nick Kenny out with a shoulder injury. For the Sharks, Luke Douglas’ run of 133 games straight since his debut is now over, with a medial ligament strain ruling him out, while Josh Cordoba succumbs to a hamstring injury. The Sharks welcome back a couple, and have named Tyson Frizell to make his debut.  Amazingly, winger-come-centre-come-second rower Taulima Tautai adds another string to his bow, this week playing in the front row. A definite DT star in the outside backs.

SATURDAY:

Gold Coast Titans v Penrith Panthers at Skilled Park, 5:30pm

Titans: Preston Campbell, Steve Michaels, Esi Tonga, Bodene Thompson, David Mead, William Zillman, Scott Prince (c), Luke Bailey, Matt Srama, Michael Henderson, Greg Bird, Mark Minichiello, Ashley Harrison.  Interchange (from): Matt White, Ryan James, Sam Tagataese, Luke O’Dwyer, Ben Ridge, Clinton Toopi.

Ins: Ashley Harrison, Clinton Toopi

Outs: None

Panthers: Lachlan Coote, David Simmons, Michael Jennings, Brad Tighe, Adrian Purtell, Travis Burns, Luke Walsh, Sam McKendry, Kevin Kingston, Petero Civoniceva, Trent Waterhouse, Nathan Smith, Luke Lewis.  Interchange (from):  Tim Grant, Matthew Bell, Sarafu Fatiaki, Dayne Weston, Masada Iosefa.

Ins: Dayne Weston

Outs: None

Matt Considers: No major outs for either side, but a big in for the Titans in Origin lock Ashley Harrison. This is a big match for both sides, who will need to win to keep up any finals hopes they have. Expect Clinton Toopi and Masada Iosefa to drop off the respective benches when the teams are finalised on Saturday.

Sydney Roosters v New Zealand Warriors at Sydney Football Stadium, 7:30pm
Roosters: Anthony Minichiello, Rhys Pritchard, Justin Carney, Shaun Kenny-Dowall, Joseph ‘BJ’ Leilua, Todd Carney,
Mitchell Pearce, Jason Ryles, Jake Friend, Nate Myles, Braith Anasta, Frank Paul Nuuausala, Aidan Guerra.  Interchange (from): Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Tinirau Arona, Mark Riddell, Tom Symonds, Boyd Cordner.
Ins: Rhys Prichard, Tinirau Arona, Boyd Cordner
Outs: Steve Naughton (broken leg – Round 18), Mose Masoe (dropped)
Warriors: Kevin Locke, Krisnan Inu, Lewis Brown, Simon Mannering, Manu Vatuvei, James Maloney, Brett Seymour, Russell Packer, Aaron Heremaia, Jacob Lillyman, Feleti Mateo, Elijah Taylor, Michael Luck. Interchange: Shaun Berrigan, Jeremy Latimore, Ben Matulino, Steve Rapira.
Ins: Jacob Lillyman, Steve Rapira
Outs: Lance Hohaia (rib – Round 14), Ukuma Ta’ai (knee – Round 16)
Matt Considers: An interesting game here. Steve Naughton’s broken leg means a debut for local junior, and former Wests Magpies star, Rhys Prichard on the wing, while Tinirau Arona and Boyd Cordner are one an extended bench. The Warriors have suffered a big blow with Lance Hohaia ruled out with a rib injury, but there is a club debut for Steve Rapira. The Roosters really need to win this one if they want to be any chance of finals in 2011.
Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs v Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles at ANZ Stadium, 7:30pm
Bulldogs: Ben Barba, Steve Turner, Josh Morris, Jamal Idris, Bryson Goodwin, Kris Keating, Josh Reynolds, Andrew Ryan (c), Michael Ennis, Sam Kasiano, Frank Pritchard, Jake Foster, David Stagg. Interchange: Greg Eastwood, Corey Payne, Dene Halatau, Michael Hodgson.
Ins: Josh Reynolds
Outs: Trent Hodkinson (suspended – Round 15)
Sea Eagles: Brett Stewart, David Williams, Jamie Lyon, Steve Matai, Will Hopoate, Kieran Foran, Daly Cherry-Evans, Jason King , Matt Ballin, George Rose, Anthony Watmough, Joe Galuvao, Glenn Stewart.  Interchange (from): Vic Mauro, Jamie Buhrer, Tim Robinson, Tony Williams, Darcy Lussick.
Ins: Vic Mauro, Darcy Lussick
Outs: Brent Kite (ribs – Round 15)
Matt Considers: Some bad news for the Bulldogs, with Trent Hodkinson being forced out with suspension, although after an impressive debut at hooker, Josh Reynolds returns to first grade at his more familiar halfback position. Corey Payne is playing his 100th first grade game from the bench, and Michael Hodgson is playing his 200th game, also from the bench. A big loss for the Eagles, with Brent Kite out with a rib injury, and Jason King and George Rose both heavily in doubt. You’d have to think Brett Stewart is in doubt knowing his form at the moment too…..

SUNDAY

Canberra Raiders v Nth Queensland Cowboys at Canberra Stadium, 2pm

Raiders:  Josh Dugan, Blake Ferguson, Jarrod Croker, Joel Thompson, Reece Robinson, Josh McCrone, Sam Williams, Dane Tilse, Alan Tongue (c), Brett White, Joe Picker, Bronson Harrison, Shaun Fensom.  Interchange: Glen Buttriss, Josh Miller, Josh Papalii, Tom Learoyd-Lahrs.

Ins: Josh Dugan, Tom Learoyd-Lahrs
Outs: Nathan Massey (Toyota Cup), Sam Mataora (finger – Round 18)
Cowboys: Matthew Bowen, Ashley Graham, Antonio Winterstein, Gavin Cooper, Kalifa Faifai Loa, Ray Thompson, Johnathan Thurston (c), Matthew Scott (c), Aaron Payne, James Tamou, Tariq Sims, Glenn Hall, Dallas Johnson.  Interchange: James Segeyaro, Scott Bolton, Leeson Ah Mau, Ashton Sims.
Ins: None
Outs: None
Matt Considers: The Cowboys have named an unchanged squad as they continue to roll on in this year’s premiership, but the big road-trip down to a frosty Canberra could prove their downfall. The Raiders welcome back Josh Dugan after a bye last week, and have the services of Tom Learoyd-Lahrs, who was injured in the Country vs City Origin. The big news here is the non-inclusions for the Raiders, with Terry Campese, Matt Orford and David Shillington all still out. Don’t be surprised to see Campese and Shillington come into the side late.

South Sydney Rabbitohs v Melbourne Storm at ANZ stadium, 3pm

Rabbitohs: Rhys Wesser, Nathan Merritt, Shaune Corrigan, Greg Inglis, James Roberts, John Sutton, Chris Sandow, Ben Ross, Issac Luke, Shannan McPherson, Chris McQueen, David Taylor, Michael Crocker (c).  Interchange: Eddy Pettybourne, Dave Tyrrell, Jason Clark, Nathan Peats.

Ins: Greg Inglis, Jason Clark
Outs: Dylan Farrell (ankle – indefinite), Deon Apps (NSW Cup)
Storm: Billy Slater, Sisa Waqa, Dane Nielsen, Maurice Blair, Matt Duffie, Gareth Widdop, Cooper Cronk, Jesse Bromwich, (c) Cameron Smith, Bryan Norrie, Adam Blair, Kevin Proctor, Todd Lowrie.  Interchange: Ryan Hinchcliffe, Sika Manu, Adam Woolnough, Jaiman Lowe.
Ins: None
Outs: None
Matt Considers: Nothing interesting out of Melboure (what’s new!), but BIG, BIIIIIG news for the Bunnies. GI is back! Adrian is devastated that he can’t report this, but Souths welcome back Greg Inglis for this big clash against his former club. There is some word that he is simply playing to be eligible to play for QLD in Origin Game Two, but against the Storm he is every chance to have a blinder. Jason Clark also returns for Deon Apps, who was quite impressive on debut in a poor side last week.

MONDAY

Wests Tigers v Newcastle Knights at Leichhardt Oval, 7pm

Tigers: Wade McKinnon, Lote Tuqiri, Blake Ayshford, Tim Moltzen, Mitch Brown, Benji Marshall, Robert Lui, Aaron Woods, Robbie Farah, Keith Galloway, Simon Dwyer, Gareth Ellis, Chris Heighington.  Interchange: Beau Ryan, Liam Fulton, Bryce Gibbs, Andrew Fifita.

Ins: Wade McKinnon, Lote Tuqiri, Keith Galloway, Gareth Ellis
Outs: Matt Utai (broken arm – Round 18), Ben Murdoch-Masila (Toyota Cup), Alan Shirnack (NSW Cup), Matt Groat (Toyota Cup)
Knights:  Wes Naiqama, James McManus, Junior Sa’u, Keith Lulia, Akuila Uate, Beau Henry, Kurt Gidley (c), Richie Fa’aoso, Matt Hilder,Evarn Tuimavave, Chris Houston, Neville Costigan, Joel Edwards.  Interchange: Isaac De Gois, Antonio Kaufusi, Cameron Ciraldo, Dan Tolar.
Ins: Junior Sa’u, Antonio Kaufusi
Outs: Mark Taufua (knee – Round 17), Jarrod Mullen (pectoral – indefinite)
Matt Considers: I’ve already written about this so I’m going to quote myself and say…”Wests Tigers have received some good news on the injury front, with winger Lote Tuqiri and second-rower Gareth Ellis to return this week. Tuqiri, Ellis, prop Keith Galloway and fullback Wade McKinnon have been named to start in the Tigers’ clash with the Newcastle Knights on Monday at Leichhardt Oval.Tuqiri, who hasn’t played since breaking his arm against the Raiders in round three, spent time in hospital during the past few weeks battling an infection in both arms. Ellis returns from an ankle injury. Galloway (concussion) and McKinnon (hamstring) were named last week but pulled out. All four are still subject to fitness tests later this week.Newcastle have been forced into changes, with Kurt Gidley filling the injured Jarrod Mullen’s spot at halfback, and a back-line reshuffle as Wes Naiqama goes to fullback and Junior Sa’u returns in the centres.”
