Bulldogs v Sea Eagles

Matt says…”A massive game for both sides, with the Eagles looking to keep in touch with the Dragons, and the Bulldogs needing to prove they are finals material this year. Trent Hodkinson missing is a big blow for them, but Josh Reynolds really impressed me on debut in Canberra, and I think the Dogs can get through this one. The Eagles were amazing in the second half last week, and the form of their spine in Stewart, Foran, Cherry-Evans and Ballin has been first class of late, but I think that the Dogs forwards may be too good for Manly this week, particularly since they are missing Brent Kite, and Jason King and George Rose are under injury clouds. Look for Corey Payne to continue his spectacular form off the bench playing his 100th game, and also Michael Hodgson, who is playing his 200th game, to be fired up. Dogs in a close one!”

Collingwood ($1.20) v St Kilda ($4.25)

The Phantom says…” The last two times these powerhouse sides met at the MCG, they were playing off for the 2010 Premiership Cup. Since that time, their 2 paths couldn’t have been any more different. This season, the Pies have won 8 from 9, a controversial loss to the undefeated Geelong the only blemish on their incredible record. The Black & White Army has brushed away opponents with absolute disdain, yet they still find ways to thrill those watching their games, with Dale Thomas & co. showing off their outrageous skills. The Saints on the other hand have only 3 wins and a lucky draw to their name, but they showed signs last week in their thrashing of Fremantle that they could well be back on track. The loss of inspirational midfielder Lenny Hayes for the season, as well as injury clouds hanging over Brendan Goddard and Sean Dempster have no doubt hurt their cause, but if they can all pull together and show the heart that was on display in Perth last weekend, we may well have an contest on our hands to rival the epic drawn Grand Final of last season. Unfortunately for Saints fans, I think Collingwood will have a bit much strength on the big stage, and will take home the 4 points”

David Shipton says… “Both teams will be looking for a victory in this game, as a win for either side has them in the top 6. This is the game of the round as there is a lot riding on this game.  The Waratahs should find this tough going as the defending champions have their tails up and are playing at home. However, they should still be a threat, as shown in last week’s game against the Sharks. I’m tipping the Bulls to win this one by up to 12 points, as they will be able to overpower the Waratahs in the forwards.”
