The Punt #5

Unfortunately, last week didn’t provide any winners. However, a few of us went agonisingly close to taking out some huge money. This week, it seems the trend has been to be a bit more conservative in the hope of building a small reserve, so that we can be far more risky in the following weeks. Which multi-bets should you follow? Read on to see where the good people of WPW are putting their cash this weekend.

Ladder

(Total)(Change from last week)

Manly to beat South Sydney with the start (-8.5) @ $1.92 – The Eagles may have a few players backing up from Wednesday night, but their spine are playing well, and are all fresh from the bye. Unfortuantely for Adrian I can’t see Souths getting too close to Manly at Brookvale, particularly after their effort last week.

&

Geelong to beat West Coast @ $1.76 – The undefeated Cats should remain so, even with a big trip west to take on the Eagles.

&

Super 15 Final Half/Full Double – Reds/Reds @ $3.50 – The home crowd will see the Reds come out firing, and while I think it will be close at half time, I still think that the form of Quade Cooper last week shows he is ready to take on the mantle of world’s best fly-half. Reds to fly home on the back of Cooper and Genia. = $11.82

Adrian

Copa America- Uruguay to beat Chile @ $2.40- Uruguay had a strong showing at the World Cup, finishing in 4th spot overall. They managed to draw 1-1 with Peru to kick off their Copa America campaign, but with star forwards Suárez and Forlán, more goals can’t be far off. Chile beat a Mexico side missing their star striker Javier Hernández 2-1, but I’m thinking the tide will turn here for La Celeste.

&

AFL- Highest Scoring Team- Collingwood @ $3.25- I haven’t had much luck with this bet type in the last few weeks, but I’m going to try again… If it doesn’t work out this time, I will not try it ever again. Actually, that’s a lie. I probably will. Collingwood- do me a favour and smash North Melbourne by a 1000! = $7.80

The Phantom (again, courtesy of Centrebet.com)

Reds Try – First Scoring Play  @ $5.50– The Reds will come out flying with the support of a 52,000+ strong home crowd, and with the likes of Genia & Cooper feeding the outside flyers of Davies & Ionae, I expect the Reds to be first on the board with a 5-pointer on their way to bringing home the treble for QLD (A-League, Origin & Super Rugby).

&

Sydney Swans def Gold Coast Suns by 60+pts @ $2.90- The Swans & Suns met twice in the pre-season, with the ledger split 1-1, but I expect the Swans to come out firing after a disappointing loss last week and give the Suns an absolute belting to get their finals aspirations back on track.

&

Newcastle Knights def North Queensland Cowboys @ $1.34- Jonathan Thurston’s horrific knee injury is a massive blow for the Cowbays this season, and the Knights won’t make it easy for them on Monday night. = $21.37

Tomo

Super Rugby final – Winning Margin – Crusaders 13-18 @ $6 – Maybe its because im a Crusaders fan or maybe its because I don’t believe that Reds are capable of beating the Crusaders in the Finals. But I see the Crusaders continuing they fairy tale run (if fairy tales included earthquake a devastated city) and go on to capture their 8th Super Rugby championship. Call it Destiny.

&

MAROONS/REDS MARGIN DOUBLE – Qld 1-12 / Cru 13+ @ $8.70- Well it would be silly of me to back the Crusaders 13+ in one pick then pick them 12 and under the other pick so im sticking with them to win big in the finals and picking the Maroons to claim victory in the first meaningful State of Origin in what seems like forever. =  $52.20

David

Super Rugby final – Half/Full Double – Crusaders/Crusaders @ $2.00 – the Crusaders are going to take a narrow lead into half time and will build on it in the second. They will take it out.

&

Super Rugby final – Winning Margin – Crusaders by 6 – 12 @ $5.25 – whilst the Crusaders build their lead, the Reds will be pegging them back. They will be good enough to get a decent lead, but nothing more. = $10.50
