NRL Round 25/AFL Round 23/EPL Gameweek 3 Megatips

Time for… MEGATIPS. The NRL and AFL finals are so close, and the EPL is gathering momentum, despite the fact that Wolves are currently third and Spurs are in last place. This is madness. Head on in to see who we’re tipping this week.

Standings

Match of the Round Previews

NRL

Manly v Melbourne

Matt says…”First plays second in this absolute classic in the making, and while the minor premiership seems to be all by decided for this year, momentum leading into the finals will be very important for both sides who most people are predicting to be there on the first Sunday in October. The Sea Eagles are unchanged in the starting line-up, with only Jamie Buhrer added to an extended bench, while the Storm are unchanged from their defeat of the Dragons last week. Cooper Cronk may make a comeback, and going off the signals from Craig Bellamy from The Footy Show last night he is a certainty, but you have to wait until the last minute to find out. The form of the Stewart brothers and Steve Matai has been crucial in the Sea Eagles current run, while Gareth Widdop filled into Cronk’s halfback spot with ease last week. The fullback battle will probably decide this one, and I can see Stewart coming out on top, particularly at his beloved Brookvale, so I’m going with Manly.”

AFL

Geelong v Sydney

The Phantom says…“Plenty of emotion going into this game. Swans co-captain Jarrad McVeigh lost his newborn daughter during the week, and will obviously sit this one out. A horrible thing to occur, and I’m sure his teammates will be doing everything possible to make sure McVeigh returns to the team a winner. The Cats had their final bye for the season last week, which will have left them refreshed heading into the finals. But, the dreaded bye curse looms… I don’t think that will be too much of an issue for the Cats though, who haven’t lost at home since the dawn of time. It wont be a blow out, but Geelong should get home.”

EPL

Man Utd vs Arsenal

Adrian says… “Both of these sides have had very different starts to the season. United have been impressive so far, with the players they’ve signed showing so much. They’re young, they’re exciting to watch, and they are loving the opportunity playing at one of the biggest clubs in the world. David de Gea still has plenty of critics, but I’ve seen enough to know that he’ll be right. Just give him some time. Arsenal on the other hand have lost two of their best players, and their captain. Fabregas has finally returned home to Barca, while Nasri has gone to Manchester City. Their squad is ridiculous now – surely they’ll win something this year! The good news for Arsenal fans is that they are still in the running in the UCL, and while their squad is a bit thin at the moment, they still have some handy players. They’ll want to spend some cash soon however, as the side needs an injection of creativity following the departure of the aforementioned players. That being said, Man U should win this one comfortably.”
