2012 NRL trial results (18/2/12)

Every result from the last set of trials before Round 1.

Vodafone Warriors defeated QLD Cup side Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles 68-10 in Whangarei, New Zealand. Manly fans will be hoping their Sea Eagles fair better in Round 1.

It was a try-fest in Hobart, as Melbourne Storm beat the Brisbane Broncos 34-30. Billy Slater and Cooper Cronk both claimed a double. Great crowd – 11,700 for a trial in Tasmania is a good sign.

St George-Illawarra Dragons won the 2012 Charity Shield with a 18-12 win over the South Sydney Rabbitohs at ANZ Stadium. Great signs for Souths fans – the side were well structured, and John Sutton played well.

The Raiders got home in a close one, knocking off the Bulldogs 16-14 in Wagga Wagga.

Plenty of points were scored at Campbelltown Stadium, as a fast-finishing Sydney Roosters outfit defeated Wests Tigers 28-24. Daniel Mortimer was at the centre of it all, scoring the winner and converting from the sideline.

The returning Timana Tahu scored the winner for Newcastle in the last minute, as they claimed the win over Cronulla 22-18 in Muswellbrook.

And finally, a crowd of roughly 8,000 witnessed the Titans defeat the Cowboys 36-28 in Mackay. Promising from last year’s bottom-placed side.
