Japan international Shinji Kagawa has become Manchester United’s first major signing of the northern Summer, with the club announcing via its website that both parties have agreed to terms.

“Manchester United is delighted to announce that it has agreed terms with both Borussia Dortmund and Shinji Kagawa for his transfer to the Club,” the announcement on the club site read.

“The deal is subject only to the player medical and obtaining a UK work permit. These conditions are anticipated to be completed by the end of June.”

Adrian Considers: Awesome. A promising start to the transfer window. Provides that creativity the club has been looking for, and has already experienced plenty of success with Borussia Dortmund. I can only hope he is the first of many great signings.

I think Kagawa will be a refreshing addition to the ever weary United midfield. United hasn’t made a real big-name signing in the recent years and perhaps this is what United needs to reinvigorate their midfield. United managed a good second place last year albeit with lots of luck. Perhaps with a better midfield, reenforced with Kagawa, they can put up a real fight next season. I get the feeling that next season will not just be a two horse race like last season. With Chelsea signing Hazard and Newcastle and Tottenham getting better by the minute, next year may just be a really, really great Premier League season.
