Socceroos squad for East Asian Cup qualifying

Qantas Socceroos Head Coach Holger Osieck has selected a provisional squad of 25 players to represent Australia in the 2013 East Asian Cup qualifying tournament, held between 1-9 December, 2012, in Hong Kong.

A number of young guns, mixed with some experienced players from the A-League make up the majority of the squad. Terry Antonis, Adam Taggart, Ivan Franjic, Rostyn Griffiths, Ben Halloran, Aaron Mooy, Osama Malik, Dino Djulbic and Matt Smith all make their first call up to the national team.

The squad of 25 will be cut to 20 to fit with tournament regulations next Thursday.

    No Brett Holman? Seems they didn’t really mean it when they gave him Aussie player of the year

      Fair call, but as there’s no international window during this time, most clubs in Europe wouldn’t let their players go unfortunately.
