Transfer gossip: Ryan, Modric, Owen + more

With the lack of transfer action today, it’s time to take a look at some of the big rumours doing the rounds.

After spending £33 million on Luka Modric, there’s talk Real Madrid could part ways with the creative midfielder, who has failed to make an impact. But it wouldn’t be during January, rather next Summer. Manchester United, Chelsea, and Manchester City have all been linked.

Bad news for Perth Glory fans – it appears Michael Owen could be staying put at Stoke. Manager Tony Pulis told The Sun “I think Michael is happy where he is. He’s a great kid.”

Danny Graham has been totally overshadowed by Michu at Swansea this season, and with limited game time, could be on the outer. Sunderland has been mentioned as a possible destination.

Back on the local front, Mat Ryan‘s 10 day trial at Scottish club Rangers has been “indefinitely postponed”, with the Mariners keeper sustaining a minor injury in the victory over the Western Sydney Wanderers. Despite this, he is set to be available for the blockbuster clash with Melbourne Victory this weekend.

Robinho‘s proposed return to Santos is off the table, with AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani telling acmilan.com: “All negotiations have been closed off for Robinho, he’s off the market. He wanted to go back to Santos but neither the player nor the club could find an agreement on the money involved. I told as much to President Berlusconi and we’re happy that he is staying.”

What about Joleon Lescott? Galatasaray, Sunderland and even a return to Everton have all been mentioned as possible destinations for the England international. Despite his falling standing at Manchester City, it’s very unlikely he’ll be headed anywhere in January.
