It’s your favourite time of the week… MEGATIPS! It’s Rivalry Round in the NRL, with a number of derbies and traditional clashes that will have players and fans alike fired up. Not to be outdone, it’s Multicultural Round in the AFL. We celebrate the different cultures and… their love of AFL footy? Not entirely sure what’s doing with that one, but I just thought I’d let you know, anyway. The Super Rugby has finished for the season, and we crown our SR Tipping champion- head to the Standings to see who claimed victory. Our expert’s tips have been providing similar results the last few weeks… who is going to break from the pack? Read on to find out!

Match of the Round Previews

Dragons v Sharks

Matt says…”Rivalry Round finishes off with a match of the round candidate at Win Jubilee Oval. The Sharks enter this important local derby on the back of four dominating victories, leaving them on the verge of the top eight, sitting in tenth position on for and against. In the last four weeks they have been scoring at will, with dynamic halves combination Wade Graham and Chad Townsend playing spectacular football, and Paul Gallen now fully focused on the finals after Origin.

The Dragons are coming off the bye following a tough Origin period, which saw them win only one game from five. Captain Ben Hornby is missing with an ankle injury, but they welcome back their missing Origin stars. With Mark Gasnier announcing his retirement for the end of the year, this will be his last game at his home ground at Kogarah.

The story of the premiership over the last month has been the resurgence of the Sharks, and another victory over their cross-town rivals and defending premiers the Dragons would only further press their finals hopes. They haven’t won five games in a row since 2008, but will be keen to emulate this success, which saw them go within one game of the grand final. Mark Gasnier may be playing his last game at Kogarah, but that will mean nothing to the Sharks, who are intent on making the finals after a two year hiatus.

Unfortunately for Sharks fans, the WPW experts are all tipping a Dragons win. But who knows, we’ve been wrong before!”

St Kilda v West Coast Eagles

The Phantom says…“Etihad Stadium will be the place to be in Melborune on Saturday night, as the reinvigorated Saints take on the high-flying (see what I did there?) Eagles. While there’s definitely a case that the game earlier in the afternoon will be the match of the round, I’m liking this one. If Collingwood knock off Carlton in that aforementioned game, then the Eagles could find themselves in the Top 4 with a win here. The Eagles now know that they can handle top Melbourne-based clubs away from WA, and the Saints would be another notch in their belt. The Saints have left it a bit late, but now seem to be finding form. A victory against one of the form sides of the competition would certainly help their cause after a very ordinary start to the year. Everyone except Adrian are tipping the Saints to get the job done, but I would not be surprised if West Coast pull this one out of the bag. “
