The Punt #9
We’ve had another winner, with David’s conservative approach earning a small amount of cash to bring himself away from the bottom on the ladder. Adrian is still out on top by a fair distance. The Phantom has nearly squandered his earnings, and another bad week will see him back in negative territory for the first time in many weeks. After coming close to clearing his debt last week, Tomo is starting to slip again, while Matt is still without a win. Is this the week for him to win some cash? Read on to find out who he and the rest of the crew are backing.

Matt
NRL R22 Brisbane-Warriors 80min 06/08 – Margin Brisbane 1-12 @ $3 (The Broncos will be sure to win in Locky’s record equalling 349th game, but with the form of the Warriors in recent weeks, I can’t see them doing it by a massive margin.)
&
AFL Round 20 Highest Scoring Team – Geelong @ $1.75 (After their performance last week, taking on Gold Coast should be a cake-walk. Particularly playing against the man who deserted them in Gary Abblett.)
=$5.25
Adrian
AFL- Rd 20 High/Low Double – Geelong/Gold Coast @ $7- This is a little risky, given Collingwood are playing Port Adelaide this round, but I can’t back against Geelong after their display against Melbourne. It’s coming towards the end of the season, and the young bodies of the GC side are starting to get tired… I can only hope Port don’t ruin this for me!
&
Football- FA Community Shield- Manchester United to beat Manchester City @ $2.20- These pre-season fixtures are always hard to pick, as we don’t know how the new signings will turn out for their respective sides. That being said, I’m backing the champions to kick their season off in the right manner.
= $15.40
The Phantom
Tri Nations- All Blacks vs Wallabies, Adam Ashley-Cooper to score a try @ $6- Who can ever forget that barging try against the All Blacks at the MCG a few years back? He’ll do it again as the Wallabies end their Eden Park hoodoo.
&
International T20 Cricket- Australia vs Sri Lanka, Australia to hit more 6s @ $1.95- Despite some fairly average T20 form in the past, this Australian side is packed with excitement machines. Guys like Warner, Watson, Marsh, Haddin, Finch, White, Hussey (x2) and Johnson are renowned for belting the cover off the ball and should clear those small subcontinental boundaries quite often.
= $11.70
Tomo
TRI N Zealand-Australia – To Score a Try-New Zealand – Ali Williams – @ $6 – Prepare to welcome back Ali Williams to the international scene properly as he’s gonna score a try after the NZ forward pack decimates the Wallabies.
&
International Boxing – Tua v Barrett – Tua by Decision – @ $2.50 – More wishful thinking than anything. Tua was unlucky last time these guys met and I expect Tua to get the win but not via KO.
= $15
David
TRI N Zealand-Australia 80min 06/08 – Margin – NZ by 1 – 12 @ $2.75 – Simply put, this will be a good game and should hopefully be close with NZ extending their Auckland winning streak over the Wallabies
&
NRL R22 Brisbane-Warriors IncExT 06/08 – Head to Head – Warriors @ $2.75 – They served me well last week and should be good enough to catch the Brisbane by surprise this week
= $7.56
