NRL Round 24/AFL Round 22/EPL Gameweek 2 Megatips

Time for… MEGATIPS. Plenty happening this week, as we head into the second round of the EPL. No matches have been called off this time around, which is always a good thing. It’s ‘Exercise Your Mood’ Round in the NRL, while in the AFL, we can probably just assume that Port Adelaide are going to lose again. Let’s go!

Standings

Match of the Round Previews

NRL

Sea Eagles v Bulldogs

Matt says…”The Sea Eagles are looking to secure second place at home this week, and a certain spot in at least the second week of the finals. They were a little sketchy against the Eels last week, but have got David Williams back from an injury. For the Bulldogs, this is do-or-die, although even then their finals hopes are hanging by a thread. Expect a blockbuster as Trent Hodkinson faces his former club, and Frank Pritchard attempts to continue his big hit montage! I’m going with the homeside, but it will be an entertaining game either way.”

AFL

Carlton v Hawthorn

The Phantom says…“Friday night footy doesn’t get much better than this. The Blues have made one change, with Michael Jamison returning. Robert Warnock plays his 50th game- hasn’t time flown for the young ruckman! No changes for the Hawks. These two sides are genuine premiership chances, and there will be a definite finals feel to this one. Despite the fact this is going to be close, we’re all backing the Hawks…  “

EPL

Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur

Adrian says… “After escaping with a late win last week, United host Spurs for their first game of the season. Their hotly anticipated opening clash against Everton was postponed due to riots, so they might be a bit slow out of the blocks. The Red Devils will be missing experienced defenders, with Rio Ferdinand and captain Nemanja Vidić sidelined through injuries. New signing Phil Jones and Chris Smalling will line up it the centre of defence, and believe they are more than capable of creating their own dynamic duo. Despite some changes at the back, and question marks over new keeper David de Gea (personally I think he’s more than up to the job, give him time), we’re all backing the home side.”
