David does RWC – Days 7 and 8

RWC Days 7 and 8

The Rugby World Cup (RWC) has motored through its second round of action over the weekend with the first real upset of the competition occurring on Saturday evening. The atmosphere has been great at the games, and it helps that most games have featured a reasonable degree of competitiveness. I mentioned that I was going to the fan zone on day three, and I did and it was a good experience. They set it up like a rugby field (with an actual mini sized pitch in the middle) with stands and massive screens to watch the games on.  There was a good crowd in, especially considering it rained for the first wee while. The Drawing Board – 29/6/11

Welcome to the Drawing Board, Who’s Playing Who?’s one stop rugby shop. Playoff time is well and truly upon us now in the Super Rugby season, with the two semi final playoff matches being played over the weekend. The Junior Rugby Championship was also in action last week, with New Zealand defeating England to take out the trophy. More on that later, but firstly, here is the news. Read more…

Welcome back to another instalment of The Drawing Board. It’s been a great week of rugby action, with the Heineken Cup moving to the semi final stage and Super Rugby chugging along quite nicely at this stage. These competitions may not have the glitz and the glam of the IPL, but it’s not needed. Its all (well in the southern hemisphere anyway) substance here; with no show ponying or football (soccer) style antics allowed. Read more…
