The Drawing Board – Super Rugby Final Preview
In order to complete their fairy-tale journey to the top of the Super Rugby podium, the Sharks must complete their 30,000 mile course. Whilst they have been racking up the air miles in the past few weeks, they have also collected a couple of big – name scalps along the way in the form of the defending champion Reds and the table topping Stormers. Both victories have come during a formbook-shredding and Indian Ocean-spanning journey that not many saw coming. One final long haul trip awaits them if they are to cap their rugby odyssey with the southern hemisphere silverware with the Chiefs lying in wait in Hamilton this weekend where a new Super Rugby champion will be crowned. The Drawing Board (26/07/2012)
Hello and welcome to Who’s Playing Who’s weekly rugby blog. We are now one week through the playoffs and the best four teams have progressed to the semi-finals. The Sharks ended the reign of the Reds as Super Rugby champions with a win in Brisbane that takes the South Africans through to the last four, whilst the Crusaders also made it through to the semi-finals after they dominated the Bulls to win. They will now meet the Chiefs in their 11th consecutive last four appearance, while the Sharks’ win has set up an all-South Africa semi-final against the Stormers. Read more…
The Punt #54
David got home last week, while everyone else failed to make an impact. He’s closing the gap on second, but James and Tomo’s big reserves are keeping them in control. Adrian and Matt continue their scrap at the bottom of the ladder. One punter has gone for it all this weekend… Will they cash in?
